2020 God’s Work Our Hands @ KBIC DIGs Community Garden

Thank You to Sue wilson for the great photos!!!

Wonderful group of volunteers working together on the DIGs Community Garden and in the fruit orchard…

Learning about a new tasty tomatoes from one of the staff members who shared a wealth of information with us throughout the morning..

The tool that our Pastor is holding is one of the many tools we were able to pick from to keep. We went to help out and in turn recieved a gift for doing so. We were then informed that if you volunteer for 3-4 hours you will recieve one of these valuable tools.
About our Quilters . . .
Always busy!!! The ladies make pillow case dresses and pairs of boys shorts for Little Dresses for Africa! The items are sent each year to the Little Dresses for Africa Headquarters in Detroit. Throughout the year they also make many quilts which are shipped to Lutheran World Relief. Today and every day, Lutheran World Relief Quilts give families around the world some of life’s essentials, as well as a reminder that they are not alone. From chronic poverty and conflict to drought and typhoon, the intensity of humanitarian needs continues to increase. Anyone can work on a quilt – the ladies are willing to teach you some new skills! It strengthens fellowship within our congregation, serves as a faith witness to our community and brings us closer to our global neighbors. The gifts the ladies give through these projects are an immeasurable blessing to families around the world.
We are fortunate to have this group of talented women! Thank you for all you do and God Bless!
3rd Wednesday of the Month October – March
4:00 – 6:00 pm
let’s eat iii!
The free inter-community meal that began in Chassell has spread to Hancock, Baraga, and Mass City. Some of the sponsors for Baraga County have been St Vincent de Paul, United Lutheran, KBIC, Mission United, Jacoboson’s Funeral Home, Pettibone, Larry’s Market, Pat’s Foods, Certainteed, Besse Forest Products, and Holy Cross. We have truly been blessed to be a part of this rewarding experience working alongside our brothers and sisters to provide nutrition, inclusion, and socialization for people in our community.
Meals are the second Sunday of every month from 4:00-6:00 pm – always at St. Ann’s in Baraga. Details are posted in the narthex if you’d like to help with food prep, cooking, serving, or clean up. You do not have to volunteer the entire day – there are several time slots with various duties– each about 1 ½ – 2 hours long. No special training needed – please carefully consider volunteering some of your time to this ministry in our community – it is much appreciated by many people who otherwise do not have an opportunity to socialize; also offering a welcoming environment with a nice hot nutritious meal! 🙂
